Red Vein Treatments

It’s estimated that 60% of the population suffer from unsightly red veins. Spider veins - small superficial purple or red veins - tend to appear on the thighs as a result of sun damage, or simply as we get older. In the past, treatment of these veins was invasive, requiring needles. Since the advent of lasers and pulsed light treatments, however, there is now a non-invasive way of effectively dealing with spider veins.

How Intense Pulsed Light targets unsightly veins

An IPL treatment targets precise pulses of light energy at the haemoglobin in the vein – thus destroying the tiny superficial spidery vein, or network of capillaries – without damaging surrounding skin. You will simply feel a sensation like an elastic band being flicked against the skin. The process is brief and non-invasive.

Depending on the extent of the problem, a treatment programme may entail 3-6 sessions, preformed at three week intervals to clear small spider veins.

Sclerotherapy

For the treatment of unsightly thread veins on the lower body. These are treated by an injection of a solution that causes them to dissapear or at least become smaller. The cause is unknown except that in many cases they seem to run in families, occur more frequently in women. There is no proven method of prevention.

Sclerotherapy works by irritating the lining of the vessel causing it to swell and stick together. Some vessels will fade from view - eventually becoming barely or not at all visible. Some vessels require a second treatment and would be offered at 4-6 week intervals.
